Captain Dame Tangwen was born a minor Rebman noblewoman. She was exiled for some unwise killings in her youth. Prince Caine recruited her as a naval commando. Tangwen rose through the ranks, excelling as a commando, an officer and a ship commander. Her array of powers -- magic, minor shapeshifting and the Glow, all normal in a Rebman noblewoman -- did not hurt either. She was knighted by Caine after a battle in which her crew boarded and captured five enemy ships in succession.

(OOC)Captain Tangwen is currently touring the far reaches of the trade network, inspecting, briefing and scanning the borders for Chaosian activity. She has a dozen strong sensitives and wizards in her crew to help with the scanning.

Captain Tangwen is a popular commander. She's known for being strict, fair, lucky, profitable and eccentric (ie, culturally Rebman, in a good way). She usually has an officer or two assigned to her as apprentices in 'naval magic'. Her normal crew is one-third female; the female to male ratio in the navy as a whole is about 1:20. She's middling rich for a successful Amber navy captain.
