The Crown of Chaos manifests as 36 candle-sized flames in a ring around the King of Chaos' head, a few inches frim his flesh.

The Crown manifests only in the Royal line. I grants great power over the magic in his vicinity and lets him do things like rendering all his spawn sterile for so long as he wishes it.

When there is no King a single flame will manifest in front of the foreheads of each of the heirs. When the King is ritually enthroned in Thelbane his full Crown manifests and the heir-flames vanish.

The Crown's colors change to reflect the King's moods unless he wills it otherwise. All the (sane) Kings learn to display emotion only as a calculated thing.

The Crown is a gift of the Serpent to the Royal line.
