Gerard is the third son of [Rilga]?, an Amber noble, and Oberon.

Gerard is known for his strength and his love for the family. He is effectively everybody's ally -- which meant he was nobody's ally against anyone else. With the family conflicts at low ebb this is a much more comfortable position for him than it used to be.

Gerard is loyal to Random, friendliest with his full brothers Caine and Julian, plus Thera (who grew up with him as a doting uncle) and Queen Vialle, who became a trusted advisor during his Regency. He is least fond of Bleys, Brand and Fiona for their sins against Amber.

Gerard is Grand Admiral of Amber.

Update: Gerard went missing in the Disaster. He was later recovered from a Pattern-induced temporal stasis bubble (self-induced when everything around him went away and he started to go with it) in a massive family effort.
