Mykal and I agreed that we needed Andrade to help us rescue Deirdre from Argent. We decided that we were going to come in on a ship and open an exotic dress shop since Deirdre is known for loving to shop. We spent some time casing the town and the ships. Eventually with the aide of Andrade’s pattern ability we were able to commandeer the perfect ship. Also, we managed to forge money and documents. The documents we could not forge ourselves, we bribed our way through. It was a lot of fun. In time we had the goods and were ready to open shop in the city of Argent. I also found out that Andrade could take Deirdre’s form as well as Corwin’s, very interesting. Anyway, the game plan is Andrade and I will be shifted as women shop keepers from the orient. Mykal will be acting as if he is gay. The dressing room will be heavily padded, with a small door across the way for Andrade to slip into. The goal is to get Deirdre in the dressing room; Andrade will slip into the smaller room, and take on Deirdre’s form. He will then exit, taking all the guards with him. Mykal will enter the room to help out after I poison Deirdre. Yes, I get to be the lamb laid out for slaughter. I will start making the venom, and I will pretend to be putting a fabric around her shoulders and then poison her with a non-toxic, yet highly sedating drug. Needless to say, it won’t be instantaneous, so I am going to get a bruising.
After a few days of opening the shop we are contacted and told that Lady Deirdre will be coming to our shop in a few days. The morning of, a few guards came to the shop searching everywhere and tasting all food and beverages. No poison there, it’s in me. Deirdre arrived an hour or so later and so the plot unwinds. We also found out that she was to have lunch with Corwin. Good thing Mykal made the escape trumps for us next to an alley near the magical entrance to Paris. We will need to get out fast. All went according to plan. I got almost all 10 needles into Deirdre, and then I got thrown into the wall. Good thing it was padded. Mykal rushed in the room, and took on Monique, Deirdre’s body guard. Deirdre came after me; the rest of the maidens had no idea of what was going on. Deirdre grabbed by ankle, and I lashed out with the last of the venom into her. She collapsed and Mykal took out Monique. The rest of the maidens were easy to knock out. We rolled Deirdre in fabric and trumped to our exit. We quickly went through and mother was there as was Andrade to take us to Rebma.
We tied Deirdre down and mother did something to unbind some pattern-based spell or something like that. When Deirdre came to, she was furious but thankful. She and mother went off, and I started to work in the armory to come up with a new weapon that would move with the speed of a dart. This was not easy. After trial and error, I came up with a hollow needle that I could fill with a variety of different poisons. The only problem is that sometimes it goes through the intended victim. I’ll have to work on the aim of it all. I did enjoy getting to spar with the Rebman Army, but I had to practice shooting on a dummy. Eventually, I went to shadow to practice on live targets. I also managed to find out where these needles are made. I went a few shadows out, so I could have as many of these made without the Rebmans knowing what I was doing. I am just about ready to flush out that sorcerer, shape shifter who evaded me before.
