Logrus 101
Logrus Mastery breaks down into five disciplines with three levels of mastery each.
- Logrus Senses: Gives similar results as Pattern senses
- Logrus Travel: Connect two points with Logrus threads and walk along them. Limited to, at most, some dozens of willing thread-walkers.
- Corruption: The Black Circle trick that was done to Shadow Lorraine and Benedict's Avalon. Slow. Useful for raising hordes of thralls. Left to develop for a long time -- decades -- a corrupted world will be too dangerous for even Lords of Chaos.
- Cursing: Hexing at low level, cursing at medium and simple probability control at high -- without the 'everything goes right' options.
- Roadmaking: Tap the Logrus to make lasting Black Roads. Actually they almost always tap into the existing elaborate Black Road network. The first is harder than making Shadow Paths, the second easier.
Slaves
Most of the combat slaves were kept in a state of hibernation, said state being induced by enchanted cells and made easier by genetic/ magical/ shapeshift engineering of the creatures. Several hundred are still hibernating.
types:
garbage-eating scarabs, koboldish and Froud-fairyish underservants, elegant personal servants, magical 'techs' (mostly slender, fragile, mildly-insectile-but-wingless fairy types), trollish and bugbearish muscle, a wide variety of predatory monsters (notably dragons, giant spidery things, oversized lupines), humanoids.
Logistics
Despite fungus farms, yeast-vats, meat-trees, recycling of bodies and intensely cultivated slopes, the Mountain couldn't feed the original population, let alone Bleys' legions. And Bleys' soldiers aren't designed for hibernation, nor are the cells designed for them. Bleys sent all but 10,000 home to the Avernii via Trumps, exhausting his Mage Corps in the doing. He can call in troops pretty fast the same way. The wastelands don't support much of anything.
Black Watch Politics
The Adept could pretty much do as he pleased. The Seer, Traveller, Hunter and Master of Beasts had sworn binding oaths to him. In regards to the Adept's Amber policy, the Traveller disagreed (too risky, why go to all that trouble just to give the Eye to the King... or the Adept?), the [Mo Bs]
? was supportive, the Seer was indifferent and the Hunter enjoyed having difficult targets for his skills.
Captured Lords of Chaos
tortured to death:
- A spy in Arden, helped capture Thera.
- A spy in S. Deiga, Devaki, Jarlath and Preben -- [G Circle]? worlds.
- The Third Torturer, a real artist.
- Chief Scout, instrumental in capturing Thera.
- Chief Alchemist, took Thera's body apart
- The Adept's #1 toady--
-- the Adept was losing trust in the Traveller
-- the Adept was always concerned with keeping the Hunter busy lest he find his own targets
-- the Adept was overtly supporting Fisher for the kingship but planned to have him killed in favor of the Nun.
still alive:
- Eadellin: the Traveller's lieutenant at the Mountain. She feels that the Black Watch had been twisted into the Adept's personal instrument of politics. She'd like the Traveller to restore the BW to its former purity but he despises the Hunter and rarely thinks poorly of the Seer.
- Gavan: 2nd assistant steward of the Mountain. The one who did most of the work, or so he believes.
- Rosewood: Bigger than Gerard and just about as strong. Rather interested in hiring on with Amber. Atrocity-prone. Chief of the Adept's Guard. Severely wounded but healing fast.
Iron Assassins
There are half a dozen [I As]
? in the Mountain, still hibernating. Brand trashed their de-hibernating controls. Four are fitted with active illusions (one prettyboy, three girls, all near-human) two are not.
Brains in Crystal Spheres
They found another, larger room full of them. Long term storage. Most of them are still functional -- maintaining near-stasis.
Who's Where
- Random: kinging it
- Deirdre: in Rebma, decompressing
- Corwin: (Sam knows: healing up, still stunned)
- Caine: at the Mountain, mostly; revealed to be in charge of espionage
- Fiona: at the Mountain with twenty or more irons in the fire
- Bleys: in charge at the Mountain
- Brand: (from Vramin: reportedly still in the Archives)
- Llewella: doing Battlemaster things in Rebma
- Florimel: seeking diversions from Trump burnout
- Julian: splitting his time between Arden and Rebma
- Gerard: doing Admiral things
- Martin: helping out at the Mountain
- Merlin: helping Fiona at the Mountain
- Jade: bodyguarding her dad
- Tyler: you'll see
- Thera: not nearly as nuts as she might have been; the brains are normally hibernating but she did go through torture and dismemberment; she spilled everything she knew.
