As usual I recovered from pulling Gerard back faster than most the rest of the people involved. This left some time on my hands. I checked my ‘to do’ list and found that I still hadn’t talked to Corwin about visiting Melissandra. I trumped him and gave him a list of things he needed to get done. It may have been high-handed of me, but I was really tired of making excuses for him while everyone else did the work. He went to visit Mel.
I was trumped by Mel later that evening and invited to dinner. Merlin had been invited too, so it was a family dinner just like on 1950’s TV. Ok, not JUST like that. We discussed the success of brining Girard back and Mel decided we needed to get Llewella back right now. So after dinner we (with the help of the Rebma jewel of judgment clone) pulled in Llewella. Being a person who thinks primarily about others, and a big mental hammer, Llewella had managed to save about a dozen Rebma nobles who had been near her at the time. Never say that Mel’s after dinner entertainments are dull; exhausting maybe, but not dull.
Over the next week or so we made attempts to grab the other family members with limited success. Jade we pulled through, but she was insane (more so than usual). There was a trump barrier around Martin, but it was easily knocked down and we got him back (we have a cannon, you have a klenex). I reminded him of the role that Brand had played and asked that he think about putting aside any plans against him for abit. Caine and Andre had responses similar to the ‘brain in a bottle’ signatures that Delwin and Thera had had during their days of stardom in early horror movies. There was nothing at all from Tylor. We failed in getting Dierdra and have no clue as to why. The others were not willing to spend the energy to look for Fiona and Blaise. I figured since a lot of the people had not been locked in time, I could just try to trump them and see if they needed pulling out of a cell like Martin. I first tried Fiona as I rather liked her. I also figured with her psyche she could stand up to just about anything and may just need an outside hand to get back. Unfortunately, she had been noticed by the one thing she had no chance against: the Serpent of Chaos.
I woke in a hospital bed. The nurses had wings but it was a hospital none-the-less. Even second hand, and briefly, the torment she had been in had caused me to hurt myself. During my recovery I got an unusual visitor. Dworkin put everyone but me to sleep and stopped in. He had heard about what had put me there and wanted to do something about it. Evidently Fiona is a favorite of his. He used the jewel of judgment and the trump to make a connection to her. Since there was no chance of a rescue, he put an end to her torment the only way he could. I felt really sorry for him having to do that. I guess because I had been willing to go looking for one of his favorites he gave me the option to take some of his blood and become a shape shifter. It would help me heal faster. I took it despite the fact that I would now have to be extra careful if I had sex with the dragon again. Think how handy it could be though: literally.
Once I had recovered I decided to try for the last unaccounted for family member: Blaise.
I had Llewella back me up this time. I made contact almost right away, but Llewella was blocked and he didn’t seem to know who I was. We broke contact as Blaise knows who I am and the ability to block one person but not another is something Blaise can not do. As much as I don’t like the man, looks like I’m going to have to visit Brand again.
