Since Corwin went off to mope, I am left with the task of passing his news on to Vialle. Fortunately. Or unfortunately, I’m not sure which, Vialle is perceptive enough that I don’t actually need to find the words. She starts to cry and I give her a hug and leave.
As I’m leaving, there is a shriek from down the corridor. I arrive at Flora’s rooms to find out that her son Mykal has appeared. He appears drugged or exhausted or both and is taken off to recover. It turns out that the Unicorn had pulled all the available trump artists together in some stable space and had them working on something trump related. Not my field. He’s back though so we have one more.
I decide to head to Rebma to tell Melissandra the news of Corwin. I take Archi with to fill in details. Mel is glad he’s OK, but royally pissed off (and being a Queen, she can do that well) that he is wandering around moping rather than coming back to meet her. When I find out he’s never actually talked to her I can’t blame her too much. We talk about parents and she says Flora should know who my mother is as Eric would have had to come to take me away, and she would be watching for Eric even if she was not paying attention to Corwin’s girlfriends. I resolve to ask her. We talk some about the royal succession and she voices the opinion that pattern initiates might have been protected somehow from the unraveling. We might not be able to contact them because they are in stasis. She cautions us to be careful with who we decide to bring back, and in what order. She then goes on to give me unsolicited advice on my love life. We have only met twice. What makes her think I wanted her advice on my love life? Or that I would take advice on intimate matters from a near stranger?
