Session 19 log

Archie & Sam – return to Flora’s Trump Shadow (Sam’s Estate) with the Loot from the underwater recovery. Merlin who needs some volunteers to be runners in the Black Keep trumps Sam. He wants to recruit some of the “girls”, Sam makes the proposition and half a dozen volunteer immediately and more interested but taking a “wait and see” attitude. Archie meanwhile, takes care of resupply and delivering the loot to Sam’s. He checks on his newest crew members (5 trainees?) and finds that 2 have perished (one defenestrated – tossed overboard, while the other decided to attack the Bosun)

Andre – escorts the male dragons to the females and the Dragon Shadow. Heads back to the Black Keep to nose around the Bodiless Brains. Finds one with a whiff of pattern, has DA on the ID label. Questions the Techs and finds out how to wake one, and attempts to awaken and contact this brain. Succeeds and finds out that this is Delwin, has a conversation with Delwin, bringing him back up to speed on what’s happened since he’d been de-bodied. Gathers the brain-cart, Equipment, and some of the Techs and leaves a note for Bleys. He Trumps Dierdre for transport to amber, but she is in Rebma, she tells him that Caine is in Amber and he then Trumps Caine. Caine moves to a private location and pulls the whole lot through to Castle Amber, Wasn’t private enough, or word spreads quickly and King Random and Queen Vialle show up. Andre gets to report on his find and the conversation with Delwin, while observing that the Queen has been “gifted” by Dworkin, she now has eyes…and a pair of Dworkins’ observers following every move she makes. (Random doesn’t seem all that enthusiastic about that part) Dworkin also needed the Jewel for some “maintenance” and took it with him. Dworkin also taught Random how to protect Amber from the shapeshifter bloodcreature spies. Random has had second thoughts about turning the Adept into a torch with the Jewel, wants Someone (read ANDRE) to attempt to use Werewindle to overcome the Jewel’s protections and kill the Adept, Random cannot himself, since Werewindle Hates him, but he thinks one of the youngers might be able to get it to cooperate. Andre succeeds in getting it to agree to help kill the Adept, though it doesn’t seem to care much for Andre either. Then Andre and Random trump out to Black Keep, and with Werewindle Andre kills the Adept, Werewindle is quite happy, since it ATE the soul of the adept, a situation Random remarks as interesting…since Corwins Greyswandir will probably ALSO eat souls. Andre also used the extra energy unleashed from the killing to reinforce shadowpaths from Black Keep to [Dragon Land]? and back to facilitate transport of the Dragons if he is successful in recruiting their help later. He returns Werewindle to the Royal Library.

Mykal – Debriefs with Random on Rand’s people, especially Doombringer, and the guy that carries it. Observes the Queens’ new eyes, and Dworkin’s observers. Then takes off for vacation, spends 3 days in Naipon relaxing and trying to get trump burnout washed out of his system. He gets a frantic Trumpcall from his mom, she has been attacked, she is injured, in a damaged and burning building, and some buckethead is trying to block the trump contact. Mykal quickly grabs his mothers trump from his deck, and uses that to reinforce the contact (both being Trump Artists and the blocker not helps immensely) He does a snatch and pulls Mom through. She is injured severely, and he gets ready to Trump to Mom’s advanced clinic in shadow. Mom stops him and doesn’t want to go anywhere that is connected to Shadow Earth (heavily shadowpathed), so he gets ready for a trip to Rebma, but Mom says to call first, something about Saltwater and open wounds. He trumps Llewella and she prepares a place, then trumps both to Rebma. Flora is put in the infirmary and gets medical attention; Mykal briefs Llewella, then Trumps Random to notify him of the attack. Mom wants Mykal to get her people out, she gives him her [Trump Case]? of contacts and he heads to Amber to begin the pullthrough, cant think of anywhere else better suited at the moment, since time is critical. He contacts her main aide and begins to pull people through to his Townhouse in Amber, sending locals to begin arranging housing, food, etc. He notices some of Moms sensitives having difficulties and seizures, investigates and finds shapeshifter worms in their heads, calls in Andre for assistance in ID’ing and killing them, hopefully without killing his Mom’s people. Gets all but a skeletal crew of volunteers out, Townhouse is packed and overflowing with refugees, many of whom are glad for the chance to see AMBER.

Sam – gets a trump from Fiona/Merlin, they are sent by Random to clear Flora’s [Trump Shadow]?, where Sam’s estate is. They all 3 verify that the shadow is clear of the Chaosian’s influence, and Fiona does something to it to block it. Exhausted Fiona and Merlin crash, taking advantage of the accelerated time differential of Flora’s [Trump Shadow]?.

Back to Mykal – Mykal calls in Gerard, for some counter-ambush planning, Mykal wants a piece of the Chaosite, but isn’t so stupid as to think the attacker isn’t sitting in ambush for that very thing. Mykal observes that the attacker (who he suspects is the Hunter from the Black Watch) has Thera’s trumps, some of which Mykal painted. He thinks he can track those easily. Julian and Caine are called in and preparation and preliminary planning follow. Winds up with a full family council and with an abundance of Elder help. Mykal determines that the Hunter is in Geneva, and the family acquires some Nukes and Selene delivers one to within 2 blocks of the location, Air attacks deliver two more at the appropriate moment. Escape is blocked, and Bye Bye Geneva, and the Hunter. Mykal heads for Rebma where Mom is recovering, and briefs her. She isn’t too happy about the nukes, but the way the Hunter operated, she is sure that he was involved with planning Benedicts death. Mykal begins to transfer some of Mom’s people to her [Trump Shadow]?, since housing is at a premium in Amber.

Back to Sam – Looks into hiring a steward and some guards, winds up temporarily hiring some of Flora’s Shadow Earth refugees.

Archie – Drinking and Training crew with Crossbows, more drinking than training, that’s what he has a first mate for. Gets a Trump call by Tyler, Gerard is sending Tyler to fill in Archie on Ambers’ Naval Trade Routes and nautical info. Has a LARGE stack of Naval maps and logs with him. The books are detailed info on all worlds the routes go to, and through, where gunpowder works, and what kind of powder, along with trade good info and such things. Tyler is interested in Archie’s ship so they go take the nickel tour. Archie is interested in acquiring some stainless steel cannon and shot. Will have to research the shadow he can get them easiest in. Tyler advises acquiring a set of earth elementals to size cannonballs for extended accuracy and range. They then retire back to Sam’s estate for the attentions of Sam’s Girls

Sam – Sam links up with her dad (Corwin) and they chat, he wants to know if she rides horses, she acknowledges not but indicates a willingness to learn, and she wants to get some horses, so they wander off to the local stables and acquire some local horses, then Corwin shifts them to the outskirts of Argent where he gets some excellent quality horses from his stables and gifts them to Sam. They shift closer to Argent Paris and Corwin and Sam note that something is happening, an attack or something, riots, and streams of refugees fleeing the capitol city. Sam senses Bad Vibes coming from the city somewhere. Corwin takes Sam back to her estate, drops off the horses and Sam, and indicates he is heading back to Argent to take care of that business. He departs just ahead of Tyler and Archie arriving to flirt with some of Sam’s Girls.

Sam/Mykal/Archie – get trumped by Bleys, seems there is an Airship arriving at Black Keep with some tribute from House Rock of Chaos, originally slated for the Black Watch. They are interested in opening trade with Amber, and do not care to aggravate Bleys. Bleys wants some backup, just in case, and is interested in finding out more about the airship. All three are intrigued and head off to the Black Keep to investigate this Airship. The ship turns out to be a Void ship, using the void between shadows to travel. Intriguing combination of Antigravity, Hydrogen, Liveship, and Bloodbeast the ship is a marvel. All three agree to a quick trip into the void to check it out, and are entranced by the zero gravity and effects of the void. Archie tests a pistol, primer charge burns too hot, and too long. Upon urging by the voidship captain Archie starts to use Pattern to guide the ship and is immediately booted back to Black Keep shadow, which was predicted by the captain, who says that Logrus use does the same thing. The Ship returns out of the void and the captain and Bleys enter negotiations for supplies.

Andre – Bonding with his Dad after killing the Adept with Werewindle, Observes Queen Vialle as she learns to see. Checks in with Amber Security, toys with Selene a bit. Then heads off to train in flying skills/shapes.
