Session 16
Andre begins seriously practicing his shapeshifting to perfect a combat form. He is trumped by Random (who by now is aware of the rescue mission and approves). Random explains that he has used the Jewell to speed up Flora's fast time shadow and suggests Andre make use of it. Andre agrees and trumps Flora to gain access. He then spends a great deal of time experimenting with various multilimbed forms.
Mykal also has reported to Flora's shadow, but for him the object of study is the trump gate. He experiments with various effects and sources of power. He is told of an upcoming training excursion to a town of wizards with various members of the family. Sounds like fun!
Samantha finally gets around to being fitted for armor for use in a combat situation. She has picked out a villa but will need cash to buy and staff it. She gets to try using Pattern and enlists the aid of Archimedes. Together, they decide to locate the site of a sunken treasure fleet as a viable means to accomplish the goal.
Archimedes is recruited for a quick hit on the wizard settlement in shadow. As far as training goes, it is fun and not especially hazardous. Much of the family is there, practicing mayhem on the wards and alarms of the city. Some minor loot is had, but Archimides and Samantha are keen to go find their sunken pirate treasure and soon head out.
The others begin the rescue attempt for Thera. Andre trumps in his saboteurs (who turn out to be unneeded given the massive overkill). He then coordinates with Brand and leads Jade, Mykal and the Iron Assassin deep into the complex. they get much of the way there before they are discovered and violence ensues.
Thera is found as a disembodied brain alive in a tank. She is brought out succesfully. When the enormity of what was done to her is made clear, Random orders the assault on the fortress to begin in earnest. Brand has left, but the rest of the family is brought in. Sam gets to help power stuff while Andre flies CAP, Mykal goes off killing and Archimedes grabs the loot. The elders raise some serious hell too. In the end, the vile captor of Thera is chased down and staked out to suffer eternal burning. The fortress is claimed by Amber and Bleys takes over.
Returning to his own familiar shadows, Archimedes unloads and makes the split with his crew. Sam has the money she needs for her villa. Andre has a new project, helping Thera learn how to grow back a body. Mykal gets to hide from trump duties again after being forced to crank some out earlier. All is normal.
