Amber Log 5/29/05

Sam: Sam updated Random on Corwin. (He’s fine, but his Capitol is in flames so he’s off to save it) Random updates Sam on Vialle and Delwin. (she is getting sight and he exists, but is a brain in a jar.) Sam trumps Corwin and offers assistance. Corwin pulls her through into a retreat from unnatural creatures, which have taken over Argent. Corwin and Sam succeed in putting a ring of fire around the city despite resistance from the other side. The resistance seemed to be made up of very many minds with small ability. Corwin has a few corpses of the attacking creatures. Sam takes one look and says call Fiona. Fiona agrees to come, but wants to walk Corwin’s pattern in exchange for her services. Corwin agrees. While waiting for Fiona to gather her equipment, Sam used probability manipulation to make camp set-up run smother. She finds someone using local pattern to do just the opposite. Tracks the signal down to the basement of the nearby rail station. The creature doing it is a giant ratoid who is immune to glamour but not words of power. The rat chases Sam up to the ground floor where she gets the assistance of soldiers in blowing it to pieces. The small pieces that fly off due to being shot frequently attack on their own. Sam finds out that the protections around Corwin’s pattern consisted primarily of a wall and guards. Corwin is disturbed that these things are using his pattern to mess him up and he can’t feel it as well as Sam can. Sam sits down to look for any more. Fiona shows up to examine corpses. Finds that elementals want nothing to do with them. Forcing an elemental into a corpse results in its death.

Archimedes: Archi discusses the void, void ship and void shipping possibilities with Captain Dwayne (void ship captain) of House Roc in the process of negotiating a trade treaty. The secrets of void sailing are a House Roc secret and not shared except, maybe through a formal marriage-with-child deal. Archi contemplates marriage. While House Roc knows what Amber could use, they have no idea what Amber lands offer, so a tour of the golden circle is proposed. Random [O Ks]? the tour. The three House Roc representatives, led by Captain Dwayne’s cousin Kella, arrive at the mountain. Archi discusses money, magic and matrimony with them. There is a reception at the mountain at which a number of Chaos lords are present. Archi will escort the House Roc representatives to Amber in the morning.

Mykal: After sitting in on the conference with Captain Dwayne, Mykal visits Flora, who is recovering in Rebma. He takes her to her house in a fast shadow, and shadow walks to get her some supplies (pain killers and a wheel chair). Michael then paints a picture of Melisandre’s coronation, and protects it by making a trump of the picture. He presents it to Melisandre who is pleased. While she is expressing this pleasure, an intruder alert goes off. The intruder is in Thera’s room. Upon arriving, they are confronted with a shielded doorway. The intruder is Dworkin, who has taken Vialle’s gentle hints and is doing something to help Thera and Delwin along the path of recovery. (They are now a brain, skull and spinal column in a larger shpere. Thera will be a shape changer when she recovers.) Dworkin wakes Thera and talks with her for awhile, but the observers can not hear what was said. Mykal returns to Flora’s shadow to meditate on the unicorn and look for a suitable substance to use as a trump battery/focus.
